Experience and learn virtual reality apps that can be used in your practice!

Eight experiential trainings (16 hours total!) are offered in this exciting Immersive VR and Play Therapy series!

This webinar series will instruct and demonstrate how to utilize virtual reality appropriately within Play Therapy sessions. Each week will address with specific clinical topics. Resources, discussion, and hands-on experiences will give you a well-rounded approach to these topics.  Based on the fundamentals of the Therapeutic Powers of Play (Schaefer & Drewes), Prescriptive Play Therapy (Schaefer), and Digital Play Therapy (Stone), this course will inform the Play Therapist for appropriate clinical use of virtual reality in Digital Play Therapy(TM).

 

The bundle includes the 8 courses, 2 hours each for 16 hours total: $420.

15 Association for Play Therapy Continuing Education non-contact credit certificate - $20

 

Instructional Level: Introductory and limited to 10 people (minimum of 5 required).

Required: Participants are required to have a virtual reality headset for use during the course and some software programs will be required to purchase. The Oculus Quest 2 is the most commonly used.

 

Continuing Education: This workshop meets the qualifications for APT's definition of a "live webinar" and offers 16 hours total of non-contact continuing education credit hours for the Association for Play Therapy. Jessica Stone, Ph.D. is approved by the Association for Play Therapy to offer continuing education specific to play therapy (APT Approved Provider #17-519).

Jessica Stone, Ph.D. maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. NO CREDIT WILL BE GIVEN FOR PARTIAL ATTENDANCE of any particular class (i.e., you must attend the full class on any given date. If you leave early, for example, you will not receive credit).

Presenter: Jessica Stone, Ph.D., RPT-S, is a licensed psychologist working in a private practice setting in Colorado. She has been a practitioner, professor, presenter, mentor, and author for more than 30 years.  She is the founder of the MHVR International Coalition (Mental Health Virtual Reality) and the co-creator of the Virtual Sandtray App for iPad (VSA) and the Virtual Sandtray for Virtual Reality (VSA-VR).  Dr. Stone has numerous publications to date including Integrating Technology into Modern Therapies, Game Play, Play Therapy Theory and Perspectives, and Digital Play Therapy in addition to numerous chapters in a variety of books.  

 

Cancellations & Refunds: Requests for refunds must be made in writing by e-mail to jessicastonephd@gmail.com. Requests must be made at least two weeks prior to the training to receive a refund. There is a $50.00 administrative fee for refunds. There are no refunds for cancellations after the beginning of the first course in the series for the bundle. There are no price breaks for partial attendance.

Intermediate course for those who have completed the initial 10 sessions above!

Geared for therapists who have already completed the 10 session series above, this course will bring us all to the next level. From meeting in VR worlds, to additional topics, this course will advance your journey through the use of therapeutic MHVR. This workshop meets APT's definition of a "Live Webinar" and offers 20 non-contact APT CEs.

Learning Objectives:

In this presentation, participants will learn the fundamental features of using the Virtual Sandtray App. Two opportunities are available:  1) access to two videos to watch on your own time, or 2) to meet in a Zoom meeting for an hour, see the features of the VSA, and have opportunities to ask questions.  Upon registration an email will be sent reflecting these options.

This course is for the play therapist who has the Virtual Sandtray App and would like to learn advanced use, features, and the identification of therapeutic components of the program.

Adapting other therapeutic techniques to include the VSA will be discussed. A brief case consultation will also be included (as a group).

*Pre-requisites: Must have knowledge of the use of the basic features; must own the VSA to
participate in the experiential exercises

$40, 2 hours, 2 APT contact CE* offered.

This course will be offered the third Saturday of each month at 10:00 am (MST)**
